Project Overview:
As a core maintenance partner for BHP WAIO, Altrad provides integrated maintenance services across BHP’s iron ore processing hubs, rail infrastructure, and port facilities. This long-term collaboration ensures operational continuity, efficiency, and reliability for one of the world’s largest seaborne iron ore producers. Altrad delivers routine, outage, shutdown, and emergency maintenance services, including scaffolding and rope access solutions, across key sites..
Scope:
- Routine Maintenance Services: Core personnel ensure ongoing maintenance of plant infrastructure during normal operations.
- Outage Services: Deployment of additional personnel to support partial outages while the remainder of the plant continues operating.
- Shutdown Services: Enhanced workforce support for major plant shutdowns.
- Emergency and Breakdown Services: Rapid emergency response within contractual timeframes, minimising downtime and ensuring operational safety.
Manning:
- Total Manhours: Over 1,060,000 (as of December 2024)
Outcomes:
- Delivered over 1,060,000 manhours with zero lost-time injuries (LTIs).
- Consistently achieved 100% compliance in quarterly quality audits since February 2020.
- Regular commendations and recognition for Safety, Attitude and Schedule compliance
- 99.18% Contract Reporting over duration of the contract and 100% target since February 2020
- Exceeded in-field observation targets by 127%, enhancing site safety and productivity.

- Diversity Initiatives: Implemented a female scaffolder training program, resulting in six full-time female scaffolders working across BHP sites
- Youth Development: Sponsored three young Aboriginal trainees in a 12-month Certificate III scaffolding program at Jandakot.
- Indigenous Engagement: Partnered with Iron Merge to train local Indigenous people in scaffolding and working at heights, offering six-month work trials for program graduates.
