Project Overview:
The Beharra Springs Gas Plant (BSGP), located 30 km south of Dongara, Western Australia, processes fluids from high-pressure and suspended low-pressure wells. To address declining well pressure and meet contracted daily gas sales rates, Altrad (formerly Valmec) undertook the restaging of two inlet compressors. This project involved reactivating the compressors’ first stages and transitioning them to parallel operation, extending production plateau levels and enabling low-pressure wells to reconnect.
Scope:
- Restaging of two plant inlet compressors, including suction pressure adjustments.
- Integration of an 8,000-hour engine and compressor service program.
- Waukesha L5794LTD Top End Overhaul.
- Comprehensive project management, including mobilisation of specialist contractors for specific tasks.
Outcomes:
- Successfully extended the production plateau by reducing well backpressure.
- Demonstrated capacity and flexibility to manage scope changes without impacting budget or timelines
- Tight Deadlines: Completed work within a limited timeframe to minimise production disruptions.
- Emergent Work: Managed additional scope, such as the in-frame overhaul of a 3K-1A L5790GSI compressor.
- Concurrent Work Fronts: Coordinated with multiple contractors conducting other gas plant upgrades.
- Enabled reconnection and co-mingling of low-pressure wells, enhancing gas flow capabilities.
- Delivered the project on time and on budget, reinforcing Altrad’s expertise in complex gas compression projects.
