Project Overview:
The Newmont Boddington Gold Mine, one of Australia’s largest gold producers, required comprehensive structural, mechanical, and piping (SMP) works to support its large-scale operations. At full capacity, the mine is expected to produce between 35–40 million tonnes per annum, with a mine life exceeding 20 years. The project included the installation of critical infrastructure to enable seamless production and processing, ensuring the mine’s operational longevity and efficiency. Altrad (formerly AusGroup), through its legacy operations, delivered integrated services critical to the project’s success.
Scope:
The project scope entailed a diverse range of tasks, including:
- Supply and erection of the fine ore bin.
- Structural, mechanical, and piping (SMP) works for the eight-cell screening building, including feed conveyors.
- Installation and commissioning of four 15MW ball mills.
- SMP works in the classification area, ensuring smooth integration with other operations.
- Interconnecting conveyor systems from the crushing and stockpile areas.
- Civil works, shop detailing, and supply, fabrication, surface treatment, and delivery of 4,600 tonnes of structural steel pipes and electrical racks.
