Project Overview:
The Dampier Incremental Expansion Project, operated by Rio Tinto, aimed to enhance ore handling capabilities at their Pilbara operations in Western Australia. Altrad (formerly AGC) was awarded the structural, mechanical, and piping (SMP) works for the project, which focused on constructing key infrastructure to support efficient ore transfer and loading for transportation.
Scope:
Altrad’s scope of work included:
- Construction of two new conveyors with integrated transfer stations and shuttle heads.
- Fabrication and installation of two new surge bins equipped with hydraulically driven belt feeders.
- Integration of the surge bins with the conveyor system to streamline ore transfer and loading onto transport ships.
Manning:
- Specialised skills in structural, mechanical, and piping installations
- Peak workforce deployment of 105 personnel
