Project Overview:
The Blacktip Gas Wellhead Platform is a key infrastructure within the Blacktip Development Project, supporting gas production and export from the Timor Sea’s Bonaparte Basin. Saipem, awarded the EPIC contract for the project, engaged Altrad (formerly AGC) to execute the fabrication, assembly, and installation of the platform components, ensuring high-quality standards and efficient delivery. Utilising advanced 3D modeling and simulation during the engineering phase, Altrad successfully delivered a robust and functional wellhead platform.
Scope:
Altrad’s scope of work included:
- Fabrication, assembly, and electrical and instrumentation (E&I) installation for:
- 726-tonne topside
- 1,400-tonne jacket
- 800-tonne piles
- Surface preparation, painting, and pre-commissioning of platform components.
- Development of fabrication methodology and sequences, including 3D modeling and simulation of erection sequences.
- Transport of sub-components from Altrad’s Kwinana workshops to the Australian Marine Complex (AMC) facility for final assembly.
- Logistics, load-out, and preparation of the platform for offshore deployment.
Manning:
- Peak workforce deployment of 120 personnel
- Expertise in fabrication, assembly, and pre-commissioning
Outcomes:
- Successfully fabricated and delivered the wellhead platform components, meeting Saipem’s stringent quality and schedule requirements.
- Enhanced project efficiency through advanced 3D modeling and engineering simulations, optimising fabrication and erection sequences.
- Delivered pre-commissioned components ready for installation, ensuring seamless integration with offshore operations.
- Strengthened Altrad’s reputation for delivering complex offshore infrastructure solutions with precision and reliability.
